Observation: Witnesses described one seal being attacked just offshore and another seal coming ashore. Carrie Drayton recorded the encounter. The source describes two seals but does not identify their species; the shark's identification was subsequently assessed by Gregory Skomal.

Observation: Naturalist Ellie Crane filmed a shark attacking one seal near Egg Rock Lighthouse from the tour vessel Miss Samantha. The report does not identify the seal's species.

Observation: The observer reported one grey seal at 11:45 a.m. during a Dolphin Fleet whale-watch trip from Provincetown. The account places the trip around the southeastern corner of Stellwagen Bank.

Observation: Seacoast Science Center found a young harbour seal on the New Hampshire coast and rescued her that day. The animal, named Peanut in the account, was transferred to Mystic Aquarium for rehabilitation.

Observation: Charter passengers spotted a seal pup resting on a boogie board off Old Orchard Beach, near Stratton Island. Capt. Marco Lamothe photographed the encounter. Species is not established by the account.

Observation: An observer reported a seal pup among coastal rocks near Schoodic's East Trailhead around 4 p.m. and shared a photograph. The observer tentatively identified it as a harbour seal; that identification remains uncertain.

Observation: A dead grey seal with a visible wound was discovered on the beach. Andrew Jacobs investigated it the next day; New England Aquarium scientist John Chisholm assessed photographs and found the wound consistent with a white-shark bite.
